Why exercise outdoors?
Do you spend your workdays indoors under fluorescent lights, breathing in recycled air and sat in one position for too long?
Let me guess. When you reach the end of the day, you probably feel too lethargic to contemplate exercise in a hot, stuffy and crowded environment such as a gym.
I know the feeling.
So when it comes to exercise, you want it to feel less like a chore and more like fun.
Then you should try an outdoor exercise class.
What makes exercising outdoors so special?
Just imagine an exercise class that not only gets you fit but also de-stresses you, makes you smile and improves your mood.
What's the catch?
There isn't one.
You see, many studies tell us when you exercise outdoors you feel happier and healthier because being outdoors invigorates your mind and body and is a fantastic stress alleviator.
As a matter of fact, regular exercise outdoors has a profound effect on mental health. Because, when you exercise outdoors, your body releases chemicals, including endorphins and serotonin, that improve your mood.
By the same token, when you exercise outdoors, you improve your self-esteem and self-efficacy.
Moreover, when you exercise outdoors, you enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow class members, which reduces feelings of loneliness.
Elsewhere, when you exercise outdoors, not only do you burn more calories but also you boost your immune system and get a burst of vitamin D.

I'll let you into a secret. You don't need equipment to get fit and toned.

You'll have no time to get bored during my classes. I break the routine by moving you from place to place.

I keep my classes small so that I can focus on you and ensure you achieve your personal goals.
I want you to understand exactly what you’ll get out of each exercise I ask you to perform. Which muscle groups you’ll work, what happens to your heart rate and how to achieve good posture, form and technique.
I do not exercise with my groups. It’s not my workout. It’s my job to ensure you carry out exercises correctly for maximum benefit and reduce the risk of injury.

My story
I started Lewes Outdoor Fitness in 2010.
After finishing university, I trained and worked as a teacher in Further Education.
Just over sixteen years ago, I decided to throw all my balls up in the air and combine the elements of my life that I enjoyed most into my work - people, teaching, exercise and the great outdoors.
So I retrained as a personal trainer with the YMCA, and I have worked in the fitness sector ever since. A move I’ve never regretted!
I have a holistic approach to fitness. Fitness of mind is just as necessary as the fitness of the body.
Therefore I make every class varied and fun so that my clients leave sessions with clear heads, energised and feeling good!
In fact, one of the great joys of my job is meeting and getting to know a great bunch of people. They guarantee laughs, fun as well as work and sweat… in every class.
